THE PROBLEM

Why commercial contractors look past Thumbtack and Angi.

Thumbtack says customers get quotes from up to five pros, and you pay to send a quote whether or not you win. Angi has pros pay to advertise and does not publish lead prices. Both are built around homeowners searching for a service today.

Commercial buyers work differently. A property manager with a portfolio already has vendors and calls them when a repaint comes up. To get that call you need to be known before the project exists, or be on the bid list when it goes out.

1. SOURCI

Lead generation for commercial buyers.

Sourci offers two routes: managed outbound for starting buyer conversations, and inbound SEO and AI-search work for helping buyers find and evaluate your website. Both have Foundation, Growth and Custom options. These are service plans, not purchases of marketplace form fills.

Sourci researches the properties, portfolios and facilities in your service area, finds the people who manage your trade, writes and sends outreach with a specific reason to talk, follows up, and hands interested buyers to your team with context. It works for commercial painting, flooring and coatings and commercial roofing contractors.

Outbound pricing starts at $2,950 a month, with scope agreed in writing first. It is intended for commercial prospecting, not a promise of immediate jobs. Your team needs capacity to follow up, estimate and close. No job or revenue outcome is guaranteed.

2. CONSTRUCTCONNECT

Commercial projects already out for bid.

ConstructConnect lists Professional from $199/month per market and seat when billed annually, and Premium from $10,000/year. Confirm current Starter pricing directly. It supplies commercial project information; your team still evaluates, estimates and pursues the opportunities.

3. BUILDINGCONNECTED BID BOARD

Free for subs who already get GC invites.

Autodesk describes Bid Board as a free tool for subcontractors; Bid Board Pro is a paid subscription with no published price. It organizes invitations from general contractors who already know you. It does not find new GCs for you.

4. DODGE CONSTRUCTION NETWORK

Early project intelligence.

Dodge tracks projects early so you can get on bid lists before they go out. It does not publish a standard price list, so expect a sales call.

5. ABSTRAKT MARKETING GROUP

Outsourced appointment setting.

Abstrakt describes appointment setting for commercial painting and advertises Outbound BDR from $5,000/month. It states one client per trade per territory. Confirm availability, qualified-meeting criteria and the exact scope in its proposal.

6. GOOGLE LOCAL SERVICES ADS

Pay per lead from local search.

You pay per valid lead within a weekly budget, and Google says you are not charged for invalid leads. Price varies by location and job type. Measure whether inquiries fit your commercial services and area; an ad lead still needs qualification.

7. HOUZZ PRO

Residential remodel and design.

Houzz Pro bundles CRM, estimates and advertising and lists painting as an audience. It is aimed at homeowners planning remodels, so it is a residential alternative rather than a commercial one.

QUESTIONS

Thumbtack and Angi alternatives, answered.

Is Thumbtack good for commercial painting?

Thumbtack is built for homeowners booking home services, and customers can get quotes from up to five pros. It can fill a residential schedule. For commercial work, check whether actual inquiries match your property types, service area and minimum project requirements.

How much do Angi leads cost?

Angi says pros pay to advertise but does not publish lead prices on its pro pages. Prices depend on trade and market, so ask for the exact per-lead price and refund terms before you sign.

What is better than Thumbtack for contractors?

It depends on the work you want. For residential jobs, compare local search, your own reviews and marketplaces using your actual inquiry and win data. For commercial work, bid platforms such as ConstructConnect find projects already out for bid, and direct outreach to property managers starts conversations before a project goes out.

Are exclusive leads worth more than shared leads?

Exclusivity alone does not establish value. Ask whether it covers the buyer inquiry, a researched list or a territory, and for how long. Owning a list does not mean the buyer requested a quote or is speaking only to you. Compare qualified opportunities and cost per won job, including estimating time. Our lead economics calculator does the math with your numbers.

How is Sourci different from a lead marketplace?

Sourci does not sell form fills. We research commercial accounts in your area, run outreach and follow-up, and hand interested buyers to your team. You own the list. Outbound pricing starts at $2,950 a month. No job or revenue outcome is guaranteed.
